Dr Devesh Shelat

Dev graduated as a dentist from the University of Manchester in 2011. Having decided to move back to his home city of Birmingham, he spent several years across various hospitals in the West Midlands.

He acquired further skills in general dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, community and paediatric dentistry, orthodontics, and oral medicine.

During this time, he was awarded the Faculty of Dental Surgeons membership from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Dev particularly enjoyed his time at the Birmingham Dental Hospital and Birmingham Children’s Hospitals.

Having gained a broad experience in a variety of dental specialities, Dev chose to pursue a career in Orthodontics.

This led to a three-year Orthodontic postgraduate program based at the Newcastle Dental Hospital and James Cook University Hospital.

He was awarded a Master of Science in Orthodontics with Distinction from Newcastle University. During this time, he was also awarded the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. This allowed him to be registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Orthodontics.

Dev likes to spend quality time with the family in his spare time. He also likes to keep fit, watch films and go travelling. After completing specialist Orthodontic training, Dev travelled around Australia and Asia for a few months.

Dev prides himself on providing high-quality care to his patients so that they are delighted with their smile. Dev’s clinical interests include aesthetic adult orthodontics with the use of clear aligners, ceramic braces and lingual appliances.
